Behind the Walk

From Survivor to Advocate

Kirk-Ron Kinslow, most affectionately known as “Kinslow,” will tell you that his life changed drastically on June 9, 2025, when he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a form of blood cancer.

He says cancer changed more than his health—it changed the way he understood strength.

As a Delaware sports official and a familiar presence throughout the local sports community, Kinslow had always believed in teamwork, perseverance, and showing up when the challenge was difficult. His cancer journey required him to live those values in an entirely new way.

On December 15, 2025, Kinslow checked into the Christiana hospital and underwent a stem cell transplant. He spent 16 days confronting the difficult realities of treatment, recovery, and the uncertainty that accompanies a cancer diagnosis. Yet throughout that experience, he was surrounded by the love and support of his family, friends, colleagues, athletes, and community.

What began as one man’s fight became a shared mission.

The Kinslow Strong movement was born from Kinslow’s journey and his desire to transform a deeply personal experience into awareness, action, and hope for others. It represents the strength of every person affected by cancer—the patient fighting to recover, the survivor celebrating another year, the caregiver standing faithfully beside a loved one, and the families keeping alive the memories of those they have lost.

The Kinslow Strong Cancer Awareness 5K Walk is more than a walk. It is a movement built on hope, resilience, remembrance, wellness, and community.

Because no one should have to face cancer alone—and every step brings hope.

The Impact We Make

Every Step Creates an Opportunity for Impact

Kinslow Strong exists to turn personal experiences with cancer into meaningful community action.

Through the Cancer Awareness 5K Walk and our growing network of supporters, we create space for survivors, patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, advocates, businesses, schools, athletes, and families to come together around a cause that touches millions of lives.

The funds, partnerships, and community support generated through Kinslow Strong help advance initiatives such as:

  • Cancer education and community-awareness programs

  • Advocacy for prevention and early detection

  • Health and wellness initiatives

  • Survivor celebrations and recognition

  • Caregiver appreciation and support

  • Resources for individuals and families affected by cancer

  • Opportunities for healthcare professionals and advocates to share trusted information

  • Community outreach and engagement

  • Support for cancer research

Our impact is not measured only by the number of people who cross the finish line. It is also found in the conversations that encourage someone to schedule a screening, the resources that help a family feel less alone, the recognition given to an exhausted caregiver, the celebration of another year of survivorship, and the hope created when an entire community decides to stand together.

This is how one person’s journey becomes a movement.

This is how awareness becomes action.

This is how every step brings hope.
